Are you creative, technically minded, and interested in a career in Electrical Engineering and Design? Specialist Switchgear is offering an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Design Technician to join their experienced engineering team. This apprenticeship is ideal for someone looking to develop technical drawing, design, and engineering skills within a specialist manufacturing environment. Specialist Switchgear designs and manufactures high-quality electrical switchgear and control panel systems for a wide range of industries. The company is known for delivering innovative, precision-engineered solutions while maintaining excellent standards of quality, safety, and customer service. As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced Engineers and Design Technicians who will support and mentor you throughout your training, helping you gain valuable industry knowledge and practical experience. Duties and Responsibilities You will learn how to: • Produce detailed engineering drawings to relevant standards and codes using both computer software and technical documentation • Use CAD software to assist with the costing and design of projects • Create and develop 2D and 3D engineering models • Support the design of engineering concepts and solutions to meet customer and project requirements • Identify and assess factors that affect designs, including materials, applications, environment, risk, and location • Assist with design modifications and updates • Work closely with the engineering and production teams to support manufacturing processes • Maintain accurate technical documentation and records You Will Also Develop an Understanding Of: • Document management and change control processes • Engineering codes, regulations, and industry standards • Common engineering principles • The application of maths and science within engineering • Fundamentals of engineering drawing and technical design • Computer Aided Design (CAD) software and its appropriate application Training and Support You will receive full on-the-job training and support from experienced Engineers and Design professionals while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification.
