Brand-new Bonus Scheme for Businesses to Hire Apprentices
July 2020
Did you know the Government recently announced a new incentive for employers that hire apprentices?
What is the new incentive available to Apprenticeship employers?
From August 2020 to March 2021, any firm that takes on a new apprentice aged between 16 to 24 will receive a £2,000 bonus from the Government, while new apprentices ages over 24 will be paid £1,500. These payments are in addition to the existing £1,000 incentive that is already in place when an apprentice aged 16 to 18 is employed. This means employers could receive up to £3,000 for hiring an apprentice aged 16 to 18 from August 2020 to March 2021.
To access these incentives, your company must be signed up to the Apprenticeship Service, formerly the Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS). You can find more information about the Apprenticeship Service here.
