Course Overview (Benefits)
This course enables delegates to act as First Aider in the workplace and is currently valid for 3 years. The aim of this course:
- Complying with Legislation underlined by HSE and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
- Improved safety culture and staff morale
- Reduced risk of accidents and incidents
- Reduced risk of claims and prosecutions
- Improved staff retention
Course Content/topics covered
This course ensures that you comply with legislation and covers topics that teach skills that can be transferred to a real life situation, including:
- Introduction to the body
- Priorities of first aid
- Resuscitation
- Shock
- Heat conditions
- Burns & scalds
- Eye Injuries
- Wounds & bleeding
- Sudden illness
- Unconsciousness
- Fractures
- Poisons
- Epilepsy
- Effects of heat & cold
- Record keeping
- First aid boxes
- Delegation in emergencies
- Communication skills
- Course review and evaluation
This course now includes the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.
Course Duration
3 days.
Target Group
All levels.
Assessment and Certification
You will be assessed by continuous observation by the trainer alongside written assessments. Upon completion of this course, you will receive a First Aid certificate; this will be valid for 3 years.
Location of the training
Training will take place at our Head Office in Horwich.

This course is made up of classroom based learning and a practical demonstration.
Course Requirements
Suitable clothing for floor work should be worn as learners are required to complete a practical demonstration.

This course is for First Aiders to re-qualify prior to their certificate expiring. The aim of this course:

Course Requirements
Suitable clothing for floor work should be worn. All attendees on the Refresher Course must bring their current certificate with them to prove their eligibility for the course. Attendees have 28 days from expiry date to attend the refresher, those who are over the 28 days must be re-booked onto the next 3 day course.

First Aid Emergency at Work

This course enables delegates to take charge if an illness or injury occurs and covers the basic skills required. The aim of this course:
- Legislative compliance
- Improved safety culture and staff morale
- Reduced risk of accidents and incidents
- Reduced risk of claims and prosecutions
- Improved staff retention
Course Content/topics covered
This course ensures that you comply with legislation and covers topics that teach skills that can be transferred to a real life situation, including:
- Aims of First Aid- Dealing with an emergency
- Priorities of treatment- CPR Adult
- Recognition and treatment of regurgitation
- Choking- Adult
- Unconscious Patient including recovery position and dealing with a patient who is in seizure (fitting)
- Bleeding/Shock - Blood loss theory, internal bleeding, recognition and treatment of shock
- Wounds & Bleeding- Cross infection/treatment of bleeding and minor injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Recording Incidents and First Aid Actions
This course now includes the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.

First Aid Paediatric
First Aid Paediatric - First Aid Industry Board (FAIB)
Course Overview (Benefits)
This course equips all attendees working within the childcare sector with a sound knowledge and understanding of adult, child and baby first aid procedures. All attendees will also be able to recognise childhood medical conditions and carry out the correct emergency treatment required until medical professionals arrive to assist. The course:
- Follows the recommendations of EYFS and OFSTED
- Improves safety culture and staff morale
- Focuses on emergency scenarios that face professionals looking after young children and infants, including teachers, playgroup leaders, childcare providers, au pairs, nannies and child minders, these professions often have to prove they have a specific Paediatric First Aid qualification

AED (Automated External Defibrillator) with CPR
Automated External Defibrillator with CPR – Alliance Learning Certified
Course Overview (Benefits)
This course aims to give those people within the workplace that may not be confident in using an AED the skills and knowledge to use one in an emergency along with the provision of CPR to the casualty. The course allows attendees:
- To familiries themselves with the AED
- To operate the AED
- To gain confidence in use of the AED

This course ensures that attendees gain confidence and skills that can be transferred to a real life situation, including:
- Personal safety
- Assessing the incident and patient
- Danger, Response, Airway and Breathing check and sending for help
- Defibrillation (recognition of heart rhythms)
- CPR and use of AED on a casualty
- General guidelines for using a defibrillator
- Recording of information
- Handover to the emergency services
