Course Overview (Benefits)
This qualification is aimed at those with responsibilities for the maintenance of electrical equipment and for those undertaking practical inspection and testing of electrical equipment. It allows those with the responsibility for the testing and inspection of electrical equipment to gain a qualification suitable to their job role.

Safety at work is the responsibility of employers and employees alike and acceptance of this responsibility is fundamental to ensure safe working practice. The new Electricity at Work Regulations (1989) came into force on 1 April 1990. The Regulations concern all employers, employees and suppliers who are responsible for the maintenance, servicing and installation of electrical equipment or services. This course meets the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety Executive.
Course Requirements
This qualification is aimed at those with responsibilities for the maintenance of electrical equipment and for those undertaking practical inspection and testing of electrical equipment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate adequate prior knowledge and expertise to ensure they have the potential to successfully gain this qualification at level 3. Candidates must be familiar with electrical systems and hazards of electricity in order to satisfactorily complete the qualification. Therefore, a pre-entry assessment might be required to ensure you have the prerequisite knowledge to successfully complete the course.

Candidates must provide ID on the day of the course. If you have any PAT testing equipment available please bring on day of course. The Examination is an on-line 2hr Exam, basic IT skills are requires.

The qualification allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required to inspect and test items of electrical equipment in line with the latest edition of the Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. If you already work as an electrician, it will add another string to your bow and can help you move up in the industry. The course covers:

Assessment and Certification
Candidates must:
• successfully complete the online multiple-choice knowledge test (2377-701)
• successfully complete the practical assignment (2377-702)

The online knowledge test is graded pass or fail. The pass mark is set at 80% and is an open book examination. Candidates will be provided with the most recent version of the IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment published by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).

The online multiple-choice exam will take place on the last day of the course. To undertake the exam, you must provide photographic ID such as passport or driving license. Your ID will be verified by the invigilator before the examination commences. NB* Failure to present your ID will render you unable to sit the exam.

As part as the City & Guilds external quality audit (EQA) candidates may be selected at random and contacted via the telephone. This might include discussing the course delivery and your experience on the course.
