Course Requirements

IT IS MANDATORY OWN PPE MUST BE PROVIDED INCLUDING HARNESSES ANYONE ATTENDING A COURSE WITHOUT RELEVANT PPE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ATTEND AND FULL PAYMENT WILL BE APPLIED.

PHOTOGRAPHIC ID REQUIRED

Candidates must bring their own PPE for the practical element of the course including hard hat, safety footwear, gloves and appropriate workwear for confined space entry such as safety overalls.

Candidates must be fit and healthy enough to carry out the practical element of the course.

All delegates intending to use escape breathing apparatus with a close fitting face mask will need to be clean shaven ( any beard , stubble, thick sideburns, long hair or moustache in the region where a face mask is intended to seal the face will cause leakage ). If in doubt please contact us prior to the course.

What is a confined space and what are the hazards
Legal requirements
Risk assessments and safe systems of work This course enables delegates to competently enter, work in and exit from confined space areas. Including chamber, manholes, wet well, multi-landing or any vertical confined space. The aim of this course:

- Reduced risk of serious injuries and death
Equipment required to enter a confined spaces
The purpose and use of gas detection equipment
The purpose and use of escape breathing apparatus
The use of safety harnesses
The purpose and use of tripods and man riding winches
Personal protective equipment and hygiene
Examination, testing and maintenance of equipment
Ventilation and the avoidance of unsafe atmospheres
Communication and entry procedures
Practical exercise in procedures
Top Man ( Alliance Learning Certificate only)

Target Group
Anyone who as part of their occupation is required to enter, work in or exit a confined space, as defined by the confined space regulations and who have not received previous training.
Assessment and Certification
Delegates will be assessed by written question paper and practical observation, upon successful completion delegates will be awarded with a City & Guilds certificate which is currently valid for 3 years.
